Karaganda region akim holds talks with ArselorMitall Temirtau management

KARAGANDA. December 23. KAZINFORM /Valentina Yelizarova/ Karaganda region's Governor Serik Akhmetov got acquainted with the work of "ArselorMitall Temirtau" steel works and held working session with the leadership of the company, the press service of the regional Governor reports.

The results of the work of the enterprise in 2009 and tasks for 2010 were discussed at the session. A range of other topical issues was discussed as well.

"The task on forced industrial-innovative development of the economy of or country was set before us by the Head of the State. The great part of is assigned to the metallurgy, mining and smelting sectors and our enterprise", S.Akhmetov noted. According to him, the company should develop long-term business plan on modernization and development of the production in order to preserve current volume of production and increase it gradually.

Meanwhile, the Head of the region subjected to criticism the approaches of the company to realization of the program on increase of the Kazakh content. I have studied the procurements of the company. I believe, the company must reconsider its approaches and use the resources of local Karaganda producers", S.Akhmetov said.

Besides, the issues of personnel training for the enterprise were discussed at the session as well. In accordance with the information of the press service of the Governor, only 24 people among 438 graduates of vocational schools of Temirtau were employed at the company in 2009, and 15 young specialists among 357 graduates of the Karaganda State Industrial University got job at "ArselorMitall Temirtau".
