Karaganda region records drop in flu cases

47,605 acute respiratory infections were recorded in Karaganda region since the beginning of the epidemiological season, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Most cases were confirmed in children under 14, 58% of total cases.

47,605 acute respiratory infection cases were detected in the region that is 1.9% less as compared to the same period of the previous year. There were 16 laboratory-confirmed A1 flu cases. Of which 13 were diagnosed in children under 14, sanitary and epidemiological control department said.

Sanitary doctors note that non-influenza viruses are also circulating in the region, including rhinoviruses, PV virus and adenovirus.

Last year there were 97 COVID cases in the region that is 9.9 times or 89% less against the same period of 2024. 35% of 34 cases were detected in children under 14.

Doctors urge all to avoid crowded places, wear masks, avoid close contact with those infected, wash hands, use sanitizers, and seek medical assistance when sick.

As earlier reported, acute respiratory virus infections grew tenfold as compared to 2024.
