Karaganda rgn set to produce 32,5 mln tons of coal in 2014
"There are 11 coal pits, 6 surface coal mines and 5 small coal producers in the region. Сoal production increased from 25,9 mln tons in 2009 to 32 mln tons in 2013. It is forecast to produce 32,5 mln tons of coal in 2014," head of the industry and industrial and innovation development department Tolegen Igembayev said.
As stated there, new coal mines will be built there in 2015-2025 in an effort to boost the region's close-burning coal production.
"It is essential to continue coal industry diversification efforts, including coal deeper conversion, coal chemistry development, and implementation of new innovation technologies and ensuring safe working conditions. Our task is to take all necessary measures for stable coal industry development," the governor resumed.
