Karatau coming back to life after disastrous weekend
TARAZ. January 14. KAZINFORM After strong wind slammed Karatau and the surrounding area the past weekend, the Zhambyl region is slowing coming back to life.

Strong winds ripped the roofs of the administration buildings and residential complexes, and overturned cars on highways, leaving fallen trees, bus stops, traffic lights, and road signs scattered around Karatau.
Homes and businesses remained in the dark through Sunday night. Fortunately, gas and heat have been restored this morning.
However, living conditions remain severe for many people, because they are left without the benefit of electricity and drinking water. It could be a number of days before power is fully restored in Karatau.
