Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a telegram of condolences to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Akorda press service.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended his condolences to Frank-Walter Steinmeier upon numerous casualties caused by the tragic incident at a Christmas market in Magdeburg.

‘Sharing the grief of an irreparable loss with the friendly people of Germany, on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and on my own behalf, I express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims. I wish soonest recovery to all those injured,” the telegram reads.

Recall that the tragedy occurred December 20 at around 7 pm, when a man in a rented car crashed into a crowd of people at high speed. Two people including a small child died on the scene, and at least 60 were injured. A Saudi national was arrested, according to Governor of Saxony-Anhalt Rainer Haseloff.
