Kassym-Jomart Tokayev makes first donation to QAZAQ TILI Endowment Qory

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made the first donation to the QAZAQ TILI Endowment Qory. The amount of the donation from the President’s personal finances made 7 million tenge, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The Kazakh language support endowment fund was established on the initiative of QAZAQ TILI International Community, to ensure sustainable and long-term development of QAZAQ TILI community, the largest public organization focusing on the support and development of the state language.

The initiative was approved by the Head of State on October 12, 2023, at the meeting with the leadership of QAZAQ TILI community.

The funds donated to the QAZAQ TILI Endowment Qory will not be utilized, but administered and invested. The investment income of the endowment fund will be spent on statutory goals of the beneficiary organization.

The funds of the organization will be controlled by an independent board of trustees consisting of public figures, linguists and governmental officials.

Endowment funds are widely used across the world to ensure stable and long-term activity of educational and public organizations pursuing socially important missions.

The world’s largest endowment fund is the Japan Science and Technology Fund as well as the endowment funds of the Stanford and Harvard universities.

Several endowment funds of a number of universities, schools and non-commercial organizations are functioning in Kazakhstan as well.

The QAZAQ TILI Endowment Qory will spend its income to sponsor the activity of the Qazaq Tili international community and implementation of the projects aimed at the expanding the scope of the Kazakh language use, its modernization and further development.

In particular, the President assigned Qazaq Tili Community with the task to implement a number of projects and activities aimed at increasing media and printed content in the Kazakh language, improving the methodology of the Kazakh language teaching and learning, development of reading literacy and writing culture, as well as wide use of modern technological solutions to support and expand the community of Kazakh language speakers.
