Kassym-Jomart Tokayev receives Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dossayev
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan held a meeting with Mayor of Almaty city Yerbolat Dossayev, Kazinform Agency cites Akorda.
The Kazakh Head of State heard a report on the preliminary results of the social and economic development of Almaty in nine months of this year.
The city of Almaty has seen rise in short-term economic indicator by 13.5%. The city continues to lead the nation in manufacturing development (+21%). Up to KZT1tln worth of investments were funneled in the city’s economy, with a 7.3% rise seen in private investments.
The number of active SMEs was up 25.8% to 341 thousand. Since the beginning of the year, 58.7 thousand jobs have been created, of which 77% are permanent. The city’s economy is expected to accelerate to 6.5% by the end of 2023.
To ensure the city’s earthquake safety, the installment of 28 early warning seismic stations was fully completed; 545 safe places for gathering during emergencies were defined.
Since the start of the year, the city has seen a 11% decrease in the mortality rate as well as a 32.4% decline in maternity mortality rate, and 35.5% decrease in infant mortality rate.
10 schools and four adjacent buildings for 4.9 thousand school places have been built.
196 thousand sq.m of roads are under routine maintenance, up to 100km of water supply disposal networks have been built in the city.
Following the meeting Tokayev instructed to attach special attention to the realization of projects to provide people with quality water supply and sanitation, strengthen measures to attract investment, as well as enhance the transport connectivity of Almaty metropolitan area.
