President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the Footlab football center as part of his working trip to Almaty city, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from the Akorda press service.

During the visit to Footlab football center, the Head of State was briefed on its activity. Currently the center functions in a pilot mode with eight certified coaches training 50 young football players so far. The plan, according to founder of Smart Football LLP Murat Medeuov, is to train up to 1,000 children aged 5-12.

Footlab is an interactive indoor football performance and training park for both children and adults. Portugal’s Footlab franchise is headquartered in Lisbon and founded by Portuguese football legends Cristiano Ronaldo and Rui Costa. Footlab Almaty was the third center unveiled after the Lisbon and Dubai ones. Private investments into the project have exceeded 1.5 billion tenge.

Apart from training purposes, the center will serve as a venue for football tournaments among Almaty schoolchildren and help promote healthy lifestyle and sport. Investors have an ambitious plan to offer a network of analogous football centers countrywide.

President Tokayev expressed full support of the idea of building the analogous football center in Astana.
