Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visits Shusha
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Ilham Aliyev visited the city of Shusha, Kazinform News Agency reports citing the Akorda press office.
The two leaders got familiarized themselves with the general layout of the city located in the Karabakh ridge. Then they surveyed the region’s main sights including the central square, Saatli mosque, Jidir Duzu plateau, Bulbul's house-museum, and an exhibition devoted to the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev etc.
As the President of Azerbaijan noted, from ancient times Shusha has been called the cradle of Azerbaijani culture. In the period of its prosperity, the city was the place of development of poetry, art and architecture.
Construction and infrastructure restoration works are underway in the city today, with a number of hotels, museums and mosques functioning. Residential buildings, educational and social facilities, as well as churches are being built and repaired.
