Kassym Kaissenov, national hero of independent Kazakhstan ? ?Halyk Kaharmany?.
ASTANA. March 25. KAZINFORM /Zhasulan Zholdybayev/ Kassym Kaissenov was born on April 23, 1918 in Ulan district of East Kazakhstan oblast. In 1934 he entered educational-political vocational school in Ust-Kamenogorsk. In 1938 after graduation he took up the post of a political supervisor in the education department of Pavlodar oblast. Later he was drafted into theSoviet Red Army. In 1941 K. Kaissenov was sent to Ukraine where his guerilla life started.
In the Ukrainian forests Kassym?s nickname was Vasiliy, Vasya? Everybody in Ukraine knows Kassym Kaissenov as guerilla warrior Vasya??. The Kazakh hero headed the III Chapayev partisan corps. Till the end of 1944 K. Kaissenov participated in guerilla campaigns in Moldova, Czechoslovakia and Romania. He is known in history as one of the organizers of guerilla movement in Poltava and Kiev oblast. Leading the movement he took part in hundreds of such campaigns.
After the war K. Kaissenov assumed major posts at the office of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Kazakh SSR. Being the Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee in Sverdlovsk, Zhualy districts of Zhambyl oblast he was actively involved in post-war revival of agriculture. In 1953-1970 he was a director of the propoganda bureau of fiction in the Writers? Union of Kazakhstan and ?Zhazushy?, ?Kainar? publishing houses.
Like his elder contemporaries Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Malik Gabdullin, Baubek Bulkyshev, Kassym Kaissenov was a pen soldier. He wrote about war, bravery and courage of ordinary soldiers. His works took a worthy place in the Kazakh literature and in the hearts of his readers.
The first book of K. Kaissenov ?Young partisans? was published in 1954. In whole he wrote about 30 books which were translated into the Russian, Ukrainian, Vietnamese and other languages.
?He was a representative of those, who did not come back from the battle field. He had a great deal of personality. We were afraid of him a little, but loved very much", writer A. Kekilbayev says.
After returning home, he worked for common good and helped recover the country.
Kazakhstan appreciates Kassym?s heroism. He was awarded the honorary title ?Halyk Kakharmany?. He will always be an example of heroism?, A. Kekilbayev says.
During the Second World War K.Kaissenov was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War of the first degree, Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky and many other medals and orders. Some years ago the Ukrainian government awarded him the Order ?For special bravery? of the second and the third degree. He is also a prize winner of the Bauyrzhan Momyshuly literary premium.
He shared his vision on different issues in newspapers. He was joyful about victories and sorrowed misfortunes?, front-line soldier Azilkhan Nurshaiykov said about Kaissenov.
During the Soviet time, owing to the efforts of Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly was awarded the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union, after gaining independence by the President?s decree Rakhymzhan Koshkarbayev and Kassym Kaissenov were awarded the title ?Halyk Kakharmany?.
K.Kaissenov died on December 30, 2006.
