Kazakh ambassador, Groningen's Mayor expressed readiness to sign agr't on twin-cities

ASTANA. November 17. KAZINFORM On November 15 Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Netherlands Mainura Murzamadiyeva met in the Hague with Mayor of Groningen Peter Rehwinkel, the Kazakh MFA's press service said.

The Kazakh ambassador briefed on the country's modern political and economic development, institutional and financial support of foreign investments, including, investment and tax preferences.

Peter Rehwinkel expressed interest in the State Program of Industrial and Innovation Development of Kazakhstan as a key factor for further rapprochement of Kazakhstan and the Netherlands on the basis of investment and innovation partnership.

As is known, the Netherlands takes the lead in the amount of foreign investments attracted to Kazakhstan's economy up to USD 47 bln.

As stated there, the government regards Groningen as the energy sector research centre and the international energy hub. Groningen is also a city of students for 55,000 of its residents are students. Therefore, the mayor stressed the need to establish cooperation between the universities of Groningen and Kazakhstan, for example, student and innovation practice exchange.

"Taking into account the importance of the Republic of Kazakhstan as a strategic partner in the international arena and prospects for town twinning, I am ready to consider an issue of arranging mutual visits between the municipalities to speed up cooperation not only in the sphere of energy, but also in education, science, sport and culture," Peter Rehwinkel said.
