Kazakh Ambassador Kamaldinov meets President of Japanese Bank JBIC

ASTANA. February 13. KAZINFORM On February 10 in Tokyo Kazakh Ambassador to Japan Akylbek Kamaldinov met with President of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation JBIC Hiroshi Watanabe for discussion of the issues of deepening bilateral cooperation in financial and investment spheres, Kazinform cites the press service of the Kazakh MFA.

The parties focused on participation of JBIC in financing of breakthrough infrastructure projects on modernization of industrial and energy sectors of Kazakhstan economy and implementation and usage of advanced Japanese technologies on the domestic enterprises within realization of the Strategy for Industrial and Innovation Development of Kazakhstan till 2015. Mr. Watanabe appraised the Government?s measures on overcoming the consequences of the global financial crisis. Kazakhstan started cooperation with JBIC in 1994. The volume of the Bank?s loans given to Kazakhstan makes JPY 121.8 bln (over USD 1 bln) today. The Bank has allotted JPY 67.4 bln (USD 580 mln) for implementation of 4 projects: ?Development of capacity of the railway transport in Kazakhstan?, ?Construction of a bridge across the Irtysh river in Semipalatinsk?, ?Reconstruction of international airport in Astana? and ?Reconstruction of automobile roads in West Kazakhstan?.
