Kazakh Ambassador presents credentials to Pope Benedict XVI

The head of the Roman Catholic Church highly appraised results of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev's official visit to Vatican on November 6 and confirmed continuation of successful cooperation between the two countries.

Pope Benedict XVI noted historical importance of his state visit to Astana in September, 2001, which demonstrated recognition of Kazakhstan's achievements in ensuring interfaith tolerance and concord by the Holy See. He also announced that the Holy See welcomes and backs the policy of the country's leadership on convergence of Christian and Muslim worlds.

Pope Benedict XVI paid attention to the country's chairmanship in the OSCE in 2010. According to him, Kazakhstan's chairmanship is demonstration of development of political freedoms and democracy.

He expressed his best wishes to our country on the post of the OSCE chair.
