TANA. November 10. KAZINFORM Yesterday Kazakh Senate Chairman Kairat Mami, who arrived in St.Petersburg for participation in a session of the Council of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, met with Chairman of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Boris Gryzlov.

K.Mami emphasized the high level of relations between legislative authorities of the two countries; the Senate's press service reports.

"Relations with Russia are a priority of Kazakhstan's foreign policy," K.Mami said and noted prospectivity of the Kazakh-Russian interaction in both bilateral and multifaceted formats.

Touching upon the issues of further boosting interparliamentary ties, the Kazakh Senate Speaker highly appraised the results of activity of parliamentary group for cooperation between the Kazakh Senate and the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly.

"The Kazakh and Russian deputies actively work within the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly," K.Mami said.

At the meeting with B.Gryzlov Senate Speaker K.Mami outlined that Russia is a strategic partner and friendly neighbor of Kazakhstan.
