Kazakh athletes to obtain at least 115 licenses for Rio de Janeiro Olympics

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan has set an ambitious goal - our athletes are expected to obtain at least 115 licenses for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

"The ministry has approved the plan to secure the same number of licenses for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 as for the 2012 London Olympics," Minister of Culture and Sports Arystanbek Mukhamediuly said at the meeting on Wednesday. He stressed that this year is of paramount important for Team Kazakhstan as our athletes are to compete in the international sports events to secure those licenses. Presently, all athletes are busing preparing for those competitions. Minister Mukhamediuly believes that extra financial support from Samruk Kazyna National Welfare Fund JSC will play a crucial role in the preparation of Team Kazakhstan for the upcoming high-profile event in Brazil. Recall that Kazakhstani athletes obtained 115 licenses in 25 sports for the 2012 London Olympics back in 2012.
