Kazakh, Belgian regions interested in partnership dialogue promotion

BRUSSELS. October 29. KAZINFORM. /Yerzhan Ospanov/ Antwerp Governor Cathy Berx and Kazakh Ambassador to Belgium Yerik Utembayev and Deputy Akim of Mangystau region Askar Nurgaliyev met in the city of Antwerp in the light of development of regional cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of Belgium.

The parties noted mutual interests in dialogue between the two regions and exchanged opinions on potential cooperation directions between Mangystau and Antwerp.

As the Kazakh diplomat stressed, the partnership of these two regions is very important in the context of development of Kazakh-Belgian relations since they possess powerful transit-transport and energy potential as well as the prospect of beneficial trade-economic links. He confirmed the intention of the regions' authorities and business circles to activate contacts. He also emphasized the significance of the oncoming visit of Governor Cathy Berx to Kazakhstan.

Deputy Akim of Mangystau region briefed on the region's current development, strategic plans, creation of new industrial facilities, expansion of Aktau Sea Port. The sides reached an agreement to prepare two memorandums of cooperation between the seaports and regions.

Antwerp is the largest European seaport. The Caspian Port of Aktau is interested in collaboration with it.
