Kazakh-Bulgarian coop discussed in Sofia

ASTANA. November 18. KAZINFORM Charged d'Affairs of Kazakhstan Temirtai Izbastin met with Minister of Environment and Water of Bulgaria Nona Karadjova in Sofia yesterday. The sides discussed the issues of development and prospects of Kazakh-Bulgarian relations, the Kazakh Embassy in Bulgaria reported.

The Kazakh diplomat informed the Bulgarian Minister on current social and economic situation in Kazakhstan. He paid special attention to the policy conducted in the field of environmental protection and issues of climate change.

In particular, the diplomat emphasized the task set by the President in his Address to the Nation regarding introduction of technologies and programs on conservation and sustainable use of natural resources that should be realized complying with the principles of optimal combination of economic, social and environmental factors. He also told about the work on introduction of renewable energy and energy saving, development of clean technologies, adaptation of legislation in the environment sphere and within the frameworks of the Kyoto Protocol on climate change.

N.Karadjova highly appraised the activity of Kazakh Government in the field of environmental protection as well as in the economic and energy fields including the initiatives of the Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship.

The interlocutors discussed the bilateral relations in the context of Kazakhstan-EU interaction outlined in "Path to Europe" State Program. In this regard, the sides expressed interest in activation of inter-ministerial cooperation and experience exchange.
