Kazakh capital Astana joins World Tourism Alliance
On October 30, the Kazakh capital of Astana became an official member of the World Tourism Alliance (WTA) under the Visit Astana brand, Kazinform News Agency cites the press service of the capital’s administration.
An official ceremony of Astana’s accession to the organization took place at the annual meeting of the World Tourism Alliance under the WTA Xianghu Dialogue 2024 forum in Sanya, Hainan Province, South China, held from October 29 to November 1.
By joining the WTA, Astana is boosting international cooperation in tourism and opening new prospects for promoting its tourist potential globally. In 2024, 22 organizations have become WTA members. As a new member of the World Tourism Alliance, Astana creates new opportunities for promotion of international tourism as well as attraction of foreign guests, enhancing Kazakhstan’s attractiveness in the global tourist arena, informs the Kazakh capital’s administration.
Initiated by China, the World Tourism Alliance currently includes 242 members from 44 countries, including over 45 industry associations, 80 major tourist companies and 14 educational establishments. Among them are CNN International, Qatar Tourism, Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board, Japan Airlines, United Airlines, Hyatt Hotels, Aeroflot, Airbnb and others.
Earlier it was reported that over 122,000 Chinese tourists visited Kazakhstan in the first 10 months of this year, a 64% growth compared to last year.
