Kazakh capital records 35 measles cases daily
35 measles cases are recorded daily in the Kazakh capital, chief state sanitary doctors of the city Sarkhat Beissenova told the central communications service, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Since March there were reported 2,537 initial measles cases, including 806 confirmed. Of which 71% constitute children under 14 years old, 9% account for teens, and 20% for adults.
70% or 556 cases were registered in unvaccinated children.
The additional mass vaccination rollout began countywide. 20, 302 people, or 16.8% of those eligible for vaccination received prescribed doses in Astana. 4,326 children were administered measles vaccines as part of the catchup vaccination.
290 patients are staying in the hospitals with measles as of now. Of which 214 are children and 10 are pregnant women, the public healthcare department reports.
10 pregnant women have been reportedly diagnosed with measles in the city.
