Kazakh capital to enjoy Spanish culture and music concert

A unique musical evening featuring Spanish soprano Jone Martínez and pianist Itxaso Sainz de la Maza promises to give the audience an unforgettable experience. A concert of passionate and beautiful Spanish melodies will take place at the Kulyash Baiseitova Chamber Hall on October 10, Kazinform learnt from the Astana Opera’s press office.

This incredible musical event for all aficionados of Spanish culture and music will be held with the support of the Embassy of Spain in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The program will feature works by such famous Spanish composers as H.R. Vidre, A. Abril, F. Obradors, E. Granados, P. Sorozábal, H. Guridi, F. Barbieri, A. Vives and others.

The works of these authors will be presented by soprano Jone Martínez. The singer collaborates with the main orchestras of Spain and performs at the most important festivals and stage venues. Her name adorns the billboards of leading opera houses, and she is regularly invited to tour around the world. However, for Jone Martínez it will be the first time performing in Kazakhstan. The Spanish stars specially selected for our viewers classical Spanish songs, ancient dance compositions and, of course, the famous zarzuelas.

Let us remind you that zarzuela is a unique musical and dramatic genre that combines vocal performances, spoken dialogues and dances. This Spanish musical genre will immerse listeners in the world of Pablo Sorozábal and other composers’ work, with his touching creation Adiós a la Bohemia, and then the audience will ‘travel’ to a cozy port tavern and get acquainted with La Tabernera del Puerto.

Dance music like “Tamborcillo de Navidad”, “Zortzico del dolor” and “La Carrasquilla” will add notes of history and culture to the concert program of the sunny country.

There is no doubt that the audience will really enjoy the performance, because music critics have repeatedly noted the skill of Jone Martínez. Thus, in his review, Luis Suñén said that “The singer’s voice is incredibly fresh and beautiful, the range is very wide, the intonation is impeccable and expressive with an admirable finesse. But, in addition, there is stylistic intelligence in it.”
