Kazakh CEC Chairman thankful to CIS observers

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan (CEC) Kuandyk Turgankulov met with head of the CIS observation mission headquarters Yevgeniy Sloboda in Astana on Monday, March 30.

During the meeting, Mr. Turgankulov briefed the guest on the work done by the commission since the announcement of the early presidential elections in Kazakhstan had been made. He reminded that the Kazakh CEC and the CIS observation mission had a longstanding history of cooperation. "We have always been thankful for unbiased observance of elections in Kazakhstan and recommendations on how to improve electoral legislation. A lot of them have already been introduced," Mr. Turgankulov stressed. Mr. Sloboda, in turn, said that 300 observers will represent CIS observation mission at the upcoming presidential elections in Kazakhstan. He also added that Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Belarus had already confirmed their participation in the observation of the elections.
