Kazakh Dastan Ordabay grabs silver at World Cycling Series in France
Para-athlete Dastan Ordabay from Astana has claimed silver of the 2024 Virtus Cycling Open Time Trial held in France, Kazinform News Agency reports.
Dastan competed in ii-3 (intellectual disability) Individual Time Trial at a distance of 17.3 kilometers. The Kazakh athlete finished second and secured a silver medal for his home country.
“This is the second competition for Dastan in 2024 on the highway. Our para-athlete is the leader of our national team and continues to demonstrate strong performance. The focus now shifts to defending the title in Australia in 2025, where we will continue to prepare with the team,” Dina Temirgaliyeva, the Head of the Federation of Sports for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities, stated.
The 2024 Virtus Cycling Open Time Trial brought together 100 cyclist from all over the world. The French Ministry of Sport supported the competition.
It bears to remind that Dastan Ordabay became a winner of the 2024 Virtus Oceania Road Cycling World Series held in Ballarat, Australia.
The para-athlete received his Candidate Master of Sports in Cycling title in June 2023, after the VI World VIRTUS Games for Persons with Intellectual Disability held in Vichy, France.
