Kazakh delegation participated in Asian Parliamentary Assembly session in Iran

ASTANA. KAZINFORM On February 18-20, Kazakhstan's delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Majilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan Khabibulla Dzhakupov participated in the 9th session of the Asian Parliament Assembly (АPА) held in Tehran.

The Kazakhstan's delegation was represented by member of Parliament's Senate Orynbay Rakhmanberdiev and member of the Majilis Murat Akhmadiev. During the event, the Kazakhs delegation held a meeting with Chairman of the Majilis of the Islamic Council (Parliament) of Iran Ali Larijani. During the meeting, Dzhakupov noted the important role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening bilateral, inter-regional and international relations. He underscored that launching the railway Uzen (Kazakhstan) - Kyzylkiya - Bereket - Etrek (Turkmenistan) - Gorgan (Iran) will allow to noticeably strengthen trade-economic relations between our countries. Ali Larijani underlined that active participation of Kazakhstan as an important representative of the Islamic world in the session of the APA will definitely raise the reputation of the Assembly. He noted that within the APA it is important not only to strengthen inter-parliamentary cooperation but also develop economic ties between the member states. Chairman of the Majilis of the Islamic Council of Iran noted that the railway project "Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran" raises interest of the region and encouraged Kazakhstan's entrepreneurs to invest in Iran. In addition, he expressed his gratitude to Kazkahstan for its position on Iran's nuclear program and noted that holding two rounds of negotiations between Iran and "P5 plus one" intermediaries in Kazakhstan proves commitment of Tehran to support initiatives of Astana. While visiting Tehran, Kazakhstan's delegation met with APA Secretary-General Mohhamad H. Nejad-Hosseinian and discussed enhancing inter-parliamentary ties within the APA, the Kazakh MFA's press service said.
