On July 15, 2024, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources signed a memorandum of cooperation with the WWF International in implementation of a wild tiger reintroduction program, Kazinform News Agency reports.

According to the Ministry, the memorandum is a continuation of a successful and fruitful cooperation, which has already led to significant results in restoration of biodiversity and infrastructure of the Ile-Balkhash State Nature Reserve.

“The return of the tiger to Kazakhstan is not only an environmentally important project, but also a symbol of our efforts to restore our natural heritage. This initiative became possible thanks to the fruitful cooperation of many organizations and experts,” the press service of the Ministry noted.
