Kazakh Education Ministry, Zhambyl region sign memo of coop

TARAZ. KAZINFORM The Zhambyl region akimat (local administration) and the Kazakh Education and Science Ministry signed in Taraz a memorandum of cooperation for 2014-2016.

Deputy Prime Minister Gulshara Abdykalikova, Education Minister Aslan Sarinzhipov and Zhambyl region governor Karim Kokrekbayev participated in the signing ceremony. According to the Education Minister, the memo provides for a package of joint measures to develop education and pursue youth policy. Cooperation between the Ministry and the akimat will contribute both to efficient implementation of education reforms and youth policy and creation of conditions for development of the highly intelligent nation. The Zhambyl region with population of 1 mln people boasts 454 secondary schools, 212 childcare facilities and 168 mini-centres. About 39,500 preschool children attend kindergartens. 33,000 are still waiting for obtaining a childcare. To date there are 28 non-state colleges numbering 38,000 students and 5 higher educational establishments with 33,000 students.
