Kazakh Embassy in Iran held press conference

ASTANA. March 14. KAZINFORM Kazakh Embassy in Tehran held a press conference dedicated to President Nursultan Nazarbayev?s Message ?Through crisis to renovation and prosperity?. Representatives of the local mass media and corresponding Iranian experts took part in it; Kazinform refers to the press service of the Kazakh Embassy in Iran.

Opening the press conference, Kazakh Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Iran Yerik Utembayev noted a high level of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Iran. Speaking at the event, Y.Utembayev informed the journalists of main provisions of the Kazakh President?s Message to the nation, and priority directions of social-economic and political reforms in Kazakhstan. In particular, he noted that specific measures on overcoming the world financial crisis' consequences are in the Message. He noted that Kazakhstan was one of the first states, to respond quickly to the crisis. The anti-recessionary plan, adopted in this situation foresaw such directions like maintenance of the national financial system stability, housing support, solution of equity holders? problems, development of small and medium business, agroindustrial complex, and implementation of innovation projects. Over KZT 2.7 trln were directed to the country?s economy. Besides, the Kazakh Ambassador emphasized the necessity of maintenance of social guarantees by the Government despite the crisis. The need of implementation of the employment strategy was set in the President?s assignment to the Government and state bodies. The government will continue financing and implementation of the current promising investment projects. First of all, it is the modernization of oil refineries and petrochemical complexes. Y.Utembayev informed that special attention will be paid to the agroindustrial complex. It is necessary to note that representatives of the Iranian mass media expressed their interest in the article of President Nursultan Nazarbayev on measures on overcoming the crisis in the world economy ?Keys to the crisis? and his proposal on creation of a single world currency. The Kazakh Ambassador attracted attention of the Iranian mass media to an initiative of the Kazakh leader on elaboration of a single world currency under the auspices of the UN. In this context Y.Utembayev announced that creation of a regional currency within the framework of some states will not solve the world economy problems. Creation of the single world currency will help countries integrate more effectively to the world economy and find a way to overcoming the crisis. It is expected that ideas of the Kazakh President in this article can become a direction for elaboration of a common position on overcoming this situation. Besides, foreign experts were interested in Kazakhstan?s measures on economy and financial system stabilization for 2009-2010. Finally, Y.Utembayev emphasized that ?Road to Europe? state program is a bilateral answer of Astana to EU Strategy for Central Asia and upcoming Kazakhstan?s chairmanship in the OSCE in 2010. The program is aimed at bringing relations of Kazakhstan and the EU to a new strategic level. Besides, Kazakhstan plans to take measures on tuning up a dialog of the Western countries with the Islamic world.
