Kazakh Energy Ministry names new vice minister

Sungat Yessimkhanov has been appointed as the new Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kazinform News Agency cites the Government’s press service.

Born in 1973 in Pavlodar region, Mr. Yessimkhanov is a graduated of the Pavlodar Industrial Institute and the Karaganda Actual Education Institute ‘Bolashak’.

Throughout his career, he worked for JSC Alluminium Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Agency for natural monopolies regulation, regional authorities of Mangistau, Karaganda and Pavlodar regions.

He also held posts at the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies between 2013 and 2014, the Ministry of Energy between 2014 and 2018. He was the Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for two years up until 2020 when he was named as the first deputy akim (governor) of Pavlodar region.

In 2021 he became the Chairman of the Management Board of JSC Samruk Energy.

Prior to the recent appointment, he has been serving as the chairman of the nuclear and energy monitoring and control committee at the Kazakh Ministry of Energy.
