Kazakh epée fencers enter Berne World Cup 2024 Top 10 in Switzerland

Kazakhstan’s men’s epée fencing team cruised into the quarterfinals of the Berne World Cup 2024 in Switzerland, Kazinform News Agency cites the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Elmir Alimzhanov, Vadim Sharlaimov, Yerlik Sertay and Ruslan Kurbanov vied for top honors in the team event of the tournament.

The Kazakh fencers defeated Team Denmark in the 1/16 finals with a final score of 31:30. In the subsequent round, the Kazakh squad stunned Ukraine with a score of 33:32 at the Berne World Cup 2024.

Team Kazakhstan lost to Hungary with a score of 36:45. The Kazakh athletes also suffered loss against Switzerland in the match for 5-8th places with a score of 42:45.

The Kazakh squad beat athletes from the Netherlands in the bout for 7th place with a score of 45:40.

Consequently, Team Kazakhstan secured the 7th spot at the Berne World Cup 2024.
