Kazakh FM met with EU High Representative Catherine Ashton in Brussels
Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Kazykhanov has announced it following a meeting with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton in Brussels.
"It is very important to note that the trade turnover between the European Union and Kazakhstan increased to USD 50 billion last year," Y.Kazykhanov said.
According to the Kazakh Minister, the European Union remains the largest economic partner of our country. The half of Kazakhstan's foreign trade turnover and more than a third of foreign investments attracted in Kazakhstan's economy are accounted for the EU.
It is necessary to note, that from 1993 to 2011 the gross inflow of direct investments from the EU countries in Kazakhstan's economy made USD 65.7 billion. Implementation of the three-year state program "Path to Europe" promoted growth of mutual trade.
In this connection, Y.Kazykhanov outlined that at present there is being held a joint work together with the European side on preparation of a new agreement between Kazakhstan and the EU on partnership and cooperation, which will cover the whole range of political, economic and humanitarian relations.
