ASTANA. January 23. KAZINFORM On January 20 Kazakh Ambassador to France Murat Tashibayev met with newly elected Chairman of the French Senate Gerard Larcher, Kazinform refers to the Kazakh MFA?s press service.
The parties focussed on further development of the inter-parliamentary ties. The Kazakh diplomat briefed on the main stages of our country?s development during the years of independence and its contribution to preservation of stability and peace, including implementation of large foreign policy initiatives, like convocation of the CICA, the Congress of the Leaders of the World and Traditional Religions and holding ?Common World: Progress through Diversity? international conference.
It was noted that the last year official visit of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to France had marked the beginning of a new stage in the history of the Kazakh-French relationships and had raised them to the level of strategic partnership.
M. Tashibayev familiarized the Chairman of the French Senate with the main provisions of ?Road to Europe" state program which determines priority directions of the political, technological, investment, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation of Kazakhstan with the European countries and organizations.
In turn, Gerard Larcher spoke for extending cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries and expressed readiness to bend every effort for activation of inter-parliamentary ties which, in his opinion, would promote strategic partnership.
