Kazakh-German Economic Forum held in Berlin

LIN. October 20. KAZINFORM /Yuliya Chernova/ Presentation of the economic opportunities of Mangystau region and establishment of partner contacts between Aktau and Hamburg seaport cities became the main purposes of the II Kazakh-German Economic Forum held in Germany on October 19 within the Year of Kazakhstan in Germany.  The Forum was organized with the support of the Kazakh Embassy and the Commerce Chamber of Hamburg.

Deputy of the German Bundestag Hedi Wegener noted that the relations between Kazakhstan and Germany remain stable and dynamic for several years. Regular meetings of the leadership of the two countries boost cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany. For instance the February visit of the Kazakh President to Germany and opening of the Year of Kazakhstan in Germany by the Heads of the States. According to the Deputy, Germany recognizes Kazakhstan as an important political and trade-economic partner in Central Asia. "Establishment of partner contacts between the seaport cities Aktau and Hamburg will contribute to the development of a complex of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Germany", she noted.

Head of the legal and tax company «Salans LLP-Rechtsanwälte und Steuerberater» Frank Hildebrandt briefed the participants on legal framework of business in Kazakhstan. According to him, the reforms in the legislative system of the country over the previous years created favorable investment conditions for foreign companies.

Hamburg Port representative Sebastian Juergens expressed interest in extension of cooperation with Aktau Port. He said that experience exchange in the field of transport and logistics will be very useful in achievement of set tasks.  

Kazakh Ambassador to Germany Nurlan Onzhanov briefed the participants of the Forum on topical aspects of the current economic development of Kazakhstan and measures on industrialization of the country within the Strategic Development Plan of Kazakhstan by 2020. He also outlined the prospects for bilateral trade-economic cooperation between Germany and Kazakhstan within the program of innovative-industrial partnership and the action program within partnership.
