Kazakh Government adopts AI Development Concept for nearest 5 years

The Government of Kazakhstan has adopted the Concept of Artificial Intelligence Development for 2024-2029, Kazinform News Agency reports.

Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov noted that AI has become an inextricable component of modern life penetrating more and more into various spheres of human activity.

‘The application of AI may increase global GDP by 14% by 2030 and bring up to 70% of additional economic effect. According to experts, growth in companies’ spending on AI developments  will double in 2024 compared to last year,” Bektenov said.

He highlighted that AI application will let automate numerous routine tasks. For instance, in business or in production to process and analyze large amounts of data or perform the tasks related to customer service. According to the Prime Minister, AI may calculate the risks in healthcare, emergencies forecast and detect various threats and cyberattacks.

“For this reason, the Head of State set a task to develop a strategic document on AI development and scale up projects with its application. We have already determined the priority sectors of economy for AI introduction, such as public administration, natural monopoly entities in oil and gas, mining, energy, transport, logistics, water supply and agricultural sectors,” the Kazakh Prime Minister said.

Olzhas Bektenov tasked to boost the work on establishment of a corresponding infrastructure, construction of new data processing centers, supercomputer launch, and the National AI Platform functioning.

“By 2029, the number of AI-based products is expected to increase fivefold. The share of educational programs and AI majors is expected to rise as well. We need highly qualified professionals in this sphere. It is important to take into account the opportunities and needs of domestic companies as much as possible, which will create a multiplicative effect on economy as a whole,” he said adding that he supports the draft concept.
