Kazakh Health Ministry sums up results of 2008

ASTANA. January 30. KAZINFORM /Bauyrzhan Mukanov/ Today Health Minister of Kazakhstan Zhaksylyk Doskaliyev has summed up the results of the department?s activity for 2008 at the sitting of the board, Kazinform reports.

?We have performed a comparative analysis of Kazakhstan over medical and demographic indices with five developed countries and five CIS states. Among them are Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Moldova, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Estonia?, Mr. Doskaliyev said. ?By birth rate, which has grown and made 20.4 per thousand people, we are on the second place after Kyrgyzstan. Mortality rate decreased ? 10.27 per thousand people, here we are on the fifth place. By life expectancy, we are, unfortunately, on the last eleventh place. Its average index in Kazakhstan is 66 years?, the Minister noted. By maternal mortality Kazakhstan occupies the third place: 31 per 100 thousand live-born. Herewith, in 62% cases mothers die due to improper organization of obstetric care. Infant mortality has very high index ? 20.4 per 100 live-born, that is the second place after Kyrgyzstan. In 32% cases the reason of infant mortality was improper pediatric care. Health expenditures per capita in Kazakhstan in 2008 amounted to KZT 24.2 thousand. In 2009 is its planned to spend KZT 30.3 thousand. In 2008 the national health expenditures exceeded KZT 383 bln, and in 2009 this index will reach KZT 482 bln.
