Kazakh-Japanese consultations of Foreign Ministries held in Astana

ASTANA. April 15. KAZINFORM A regular round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan and Japan has been held in Astana. The Kazakh side was headed by Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Nurlan Yermekbayev, the Japanese party - Deputy Director-General of the European Affairs Bureau of the Japanese MFA Nobukatsu Kanehara; Kazinform refers to the Kazakh MFA?s press service.

The sides discussed the issues connected with implementation of the agreements reached in the course of President Nursultan Nazarbayev?s official visit to Japan on June 18-22, 2008. They exchanged opinions on the issues of bilateral trade-investment cooperation, extension of contractual legal basis between Kazakhstan and Japan and interaction within the framework of international organizations like the UN, CICA, and Central Asia plus Japan dialogue. There was achieved an agreement on promotion of the status of the Kazakh-Japanese Committee on Cooperation by entering into its structure representatives of state bodies of the two countries.
