Kazakh judoka Yeldos Smetov shortlisted for IJF Judo Awards

The International Judo Federation has presented the shortlist for the IJF Judo Awards 2024 in the category “Best Male Judoka of the Year”, Kazinform News Agency has learnt from Olympic.kz.

It should be noted that the expanded list includes seven winners of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The shortlist was compiled based on the results of voting on the IJF official website. As a result, voters picked three out of seven nominees, including Kazakhstan's Yeldos Smetov, Hidayat Heydarov of Azerbaijan, and Lasha Bekauri of Georgia.

The winner in this nomination will be chosen by the IJF Expert Commission.

The awarding will take place during the Grand Slam tournament in Paris, France, which is slated to be held on February 1-2.

As reported earlier, the training camp of the Kazakh judo team has kicked off in Astana.
