Kazakh-Korean coop has great prospects in interest of both countries: conference in Almaty

ALMATY. April 29. KAZINFORM /Dauren Zhailin/ International scientific-practical conference ?Kazakh-Korean cooperation: state and prospects? has been held today in the Kazakh Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KISS) in Almaty. The scientific forum is held prior to the official visit of South Korean President Lee Myung Bak to Kazakhstan, scheduled on May 12-14.

Topical problems, modern state and prospects of development of the Kazakh-Korean relations in policy, trade and energy spheres and in the field of cultural-humanitarian cooperation were discussed at the conference. One of the main themes was cooperation of two countries in the world crisis overcome. Korean Ambassador to Kazakhstan Lee Ben Hwa, leading experts of scientific institutes and independent analytical centers of Kazakhstan and Korea, reps of the diplomatic mission, accredited in our country took part in the conference. As Director of the KISS Bulat Sultanov noted, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and South Korea is increasing year by year. During nine months of 2008 the trade turnover was up to USD 608.3 mln. ?We believe that mutually beneficial and complementary cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Korea has great prospects in the interests of both countries. On our opinion, cooperation in the petro chemistry, energy, including energy-saving and ecologically clean technologies, alternative sources of energy, construction, agro-industrial sector, and healthcare is the most advanced?, B.Sultanov said.
