Kazakh major copper production company announces pay rise

The Kazakhstani copper-mining giant made a decision to raise wages by 10% starting from April in response to President Nazarbayev's address to the Government of the country last week, the company's press release says.
Listed on the London Stock Exchange, Kazakhmys PLC is one of the few companies in the industry offering bigger paychecks to its workers. For instance, Kazakhmys staff got a 30% pay rise in 2012.
"The exchange rate adjustment in Kazakhstan caused quite a stir among our employees and, hopefully, the move will help them and their families in these circumstances. Nearly 55 000 people work for Kazakhmys in the republic. And we believe that our hard-toiling workers deserve every tenge coming to them," CEO Oleg Novachuk commented on the decision.
