The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan commented on the incident with the detention of a Kazakh citizen in Italy for causing damage to an architectural monument in Pompeii, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

“In Italy, our citizen was detained for illegally writing an inscription on a historical building. After completing all the necessary formalities with law enforcement agencies, he was released,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

Earlier it was reported that a tourist from Kazakhstan was detained after writing the word "ALI" on the ancient wall of the House of Cei in the Archaeological Park of Pompeii. Park security staff noticed the act of vandalism and immediately detained the offender. Information about the incident was transmitted to a stationary carabinieri post located next to the park, after which the tourist was arrested.

The House of Tseev, excavated in 1913-1914, is one of the rare examples of dwellings from the late Samnite period (2nd century BC) and represents a significant architectural monument. It belonged to the magistrate Lucius Caius Secundus, as evidenced by the inscription on the external facade of the building. The facade of the house, decorated with white stucco and a high portal with cubic capitals, is an important part of the historical heritage.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan emphasized that further proceedings will be carried out administratively, which means that the Kazakh citizen will not be subject to criminal prosecution.
