Over 100 Kazakhstanis remain in Gaza Strip - Kazakh MFA
Official spokesperson of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry Aibek Smadiyarov revealed Monday how many Kazakhstanis are currently in the Gaza Strip, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
Smadiyarov stressed the situation in the Gaza Strip remains challenging and that the Kazakh embassies in Egypt and Jordan keep in touch with our nationals in the area.
“Our diplomats carry out talks with local authorities on the potential exit of the compatriots and members of their families from the Gaza Strip to Egypt through the Rafah crossing,” said Smadiyarov, adding that the ministry has information about 67 citizens of Kazakhstan with documents in the area. Together with family members there are over 100 people.
In his words, some Kazakhstanis and members of their families have no documents at all. The Kazakhstani diplomats are working on these and other organizational issues. Smadiyarov added that embassies of 45 countries are carrying out the analogous talks.
The Kazakh embassies in Israel, Jordan and Egypt monitor the current whereabouts of the Kazakh nationals and explore potential routes of their exit to safe areas.
He pointed out there is no information about deceased or injured citizens of Kazakhstan at this point.
