Kazakh National Paralympic team wins 10 medals at World Games IWAS- 2013

ASTANA. September 19. KAZINFORM - Five gold, two silver and three bronze medals has won the National Paralympic Team of Kazakhstan on the first day of the World Games IWAS-2013, according to the press release of the National Paralympic Committee of Kazakhstan.

Today the Competitive program of the International World Games Association of wheelchairs and amputee (IWAS) athletes has began in the Dutch town of Stadskanaal. The competition involved 500 sportsmen from 35 countries. Kazakhstan is represented by the 16 participants in three kinds of sports (1-archery, 6-athletics, 9-swimming).

Gold medals were brought to our natonal saving box by Michael Eremenko (swimming, 50m freestyle), Ravil Mansurbayev (discus), Pavel Sydorchuk (shot-put).

Two gold awards were won by the most award-winning member of the Kazakh delegation, world-class athlete in swimming, the winner of the World Games among the disabled in 2011 ( Sharjah, UAE), a silver and a bronze medalist at the world championship 2013 ( Montréal, Canada) Zulfiya Gabidullina (swimming, freestyle, 50 m and 200 m).

Silver medals were gained by Alina Mikhailova (swimming, 50m freestyle) and Ruslan Utebaliev (swimming, 50m freestyle).

Bronze went to Ellina Baideldinova (swimming, 50m freestyle), Vladimir Erman (swimming, 50m freestyle) and Irina Tyshchenko (discus).

The participation of the Kazakh team held with the support of the National Paralympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

General sponsor of the National Paralympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan is the National Welfare Fund "Samruk-Kazyna".

IWAS World Games are held every two years. The last Games were held in Bangalore (India) in 2009 and in the city of Sharjah (UAE) in 2011.
