Kazakh National University chairs UN Global Hub
Honorary guests of the event were Ambassador at Large MFA, the first permanent representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations A. Arystanbekova, representative of the Department of Public Information of the UN Secretariat in Kazakhstan V. Samek, heads of diplomatic missions of foreign countries in Almaty. The ceremony was opened by the rector of the university - Academician Galym Mutanov. Scientists, teachers and students of the educational institute took part in the ceremony. The event was dedicated to one of the important dates in the history of our country - the 22nd anniversary of Kazakhstan's accession to the UN. "President Nazarbayev in his address to the people of Kazakhstan "Kazakhstan's way -2050: common goal, common interests, common future" stressed the need to strengthen core values of the national idea "Mangіlіk El". KNU activities, in the lead of UNAI hub, promote the idea of the President on strengthening the role of Kazakhstan as one of the key figures in the international process of global problems solutions", said the rector Galim Mutanov. On the occasion of the event, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the chairman of the Senate Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN and Ambassador Kairat Abdrakhmanov sent congratulatory letters to the participants of the inauguration. Al-Farabi Kazakh National University was the first among Central Asian Universities to join "Academic Impact" program aimed at support ten internationally recognized principles of the UN related to human rights, literacy, sustainability and conflict resolution.
