Kazakh Ombudsman meets Norwegian Helsinki Committee Sec Gen
ASTANA. February 2. KAZINFORM Kazakh Ombusman Askar Shakirov has held a meeting with Secretary General of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee for human rights Bjorn Engesland in Astana; Kazinform reports.
This Organization executes its activity within the Helsinki treaty and it considers an opportunity of opening of a representation office in Kazakhstan.
A.Shakirov informed representatives of the Norwegian Helsinki Committee of the ombudsman?s work and etc.
Within the meeting the sides considered issues connected with the country?s preparation for chairmanship in the OSCE in 2010 and measures taken by the state on creation of conditions for functioning of civil society. A common opinion on the necessity of cooperation in the issues connected with protection of human rights, establishment and development of contacts for elaboration and implementation of joint projects was expressed.
Bjorn Engesland noted that continuation of reforms held in Kazakhstan promotes improvement of the country?s legislation and situation in the sphere of protection of human rights.
