Kazakh Ombudsman met with Regional Representative of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in CA

ASTANA. March 24. KAZINFORM Today Kazakh Ombudsman Askar Shakirov has held a meeting with newly-appointed Regional Representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Central Asia Armen Harutyunyan; the Ombudsman's press service reports.

The UN representative arrived in Kazakhstan for participation in an international conference on the topic "The national preventive mechanism in Kazakhstan: the issues of formation and realization" as a part of a project "Support of the institution of the Ombudsman in the Republic of Kazakhstan".

The sides discussed topical issues of human rights provision: implementation of the National Action Plan for Human Rights, realization of the UN recommendations on various national reports of Kazakhstan, including the Universal Periodic Review, organization of trainings for public servants as well as prospects and opportunities of further mutually beneficial cooperation.

Armen Harutyunyan highly appreciated the efforts of the state in order to provide the rights of its citizens.
