Kazakh paradancer claims gold at international championships in Astana

Aigul Balmagambetova from Karaganda became a winner of the 2024 Asia Pacific Para Dance Sport Championships, Kazinform News Agency reports.

The competition was held December 16-17 in Astana-based Palace of Independence.

The event brought together 60 para-athletes from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, as well as from Hong Kong and Taipei.

The para-dancers performed in several nominations.

Kazakhstani Aigul Balmagambetova, a trainee of Karaganda region’s School for Disabled People, claimed gold medal in the Single Women Freestyle Class 2 nomination.

The jury was captivated by her enchanting performance as Maleficent.

The tournament was organized by the Federation of Paradances of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the support of the World Abilitysport Federation.

Earlier, Kazinform reported that para-swimmers Valeriy Yugay and Alpamys Amir from Astana won medals at the U.S. Open National Championship
