Kazakh Parliament deputies visited Berlin

Kazakhstan?s presidency over the OSCE in 2010 was widely discussed at the meetings in Bundestag, Office of the Federal Chancellor, Foreign Affairs Ministry, Internal Affairs Ministry and public funds. At a meeting with Wolfgang Thierse, Vice-President of the German Bundestag, head of the German delegation to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and members of ?Germany ? Central Asia? parliamentary group, Kazakh parliamentarians discussed priorities of the OSCE chairmanship and informed of reformation and modernization of Kazakhstan?s legislation for effective democratization of the society. W. Thierse noted political stability and economic achievements of Kazakhstan and stated Germany?s readiness to render all-round support to our country in preparation for the chairmanship. State Minister of the German Foreign Affairs Ministry Gernot Erler emphasized that due to its economic growth Kazakhstan had potential to support its neighbors. The German side noted the strategic character of bilateral relations and stressed the importance of the Year of Kazakhstan in Germany. A wide array of topics was discussed in the German Institute for International and Security Affairs - the Foundation Science and Politics. Upon completion of the visit program the Kazakh Parliament deputies left for Vienna to take part in meetings in the OSCE institutes organized by the German side. Germany ? Central Asia parliamentary group was formed in 1999. It consists of deputies of the German Bundestag representing all factions. The group keeps contacts with the parliaments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia.
