Kazakh Parliamentarians: consumer basket and consumption norms to be reviewed

ASTANA. December 11. KAZINFORM "Kazakh parliamentarians offer to review the structure of the consumer basket and norms of consumption," member of Kazakh Majilis Valikhan Bishimbayev said at the enlarged meeting of the Social Culture Development Committee chaired by Dariga Nazarbayeva.

Majilisman noted that Kazakhstan is a country with an average income level, occupying the 51^st place in the global ranking of 144 countries. It is  necessary to extend the list of goods subsistence to include the costs of transportation, utilities, education and health care.

B. Bishimbayev named Russia, where the minimum food basket consists of more than 150 kinds of products, whereas in Kazakhstan - only 43.

In addition, according to B. Bishimbayev Kazakhstan's normal food consumption is lower than in the developed countries, and accused some state agencies of trying to smooth over the situation in the sphere of availability of food and food security.
