Kazakh PM Bektenov familiarizes with development of Aktobe region

As part of his working visit to Aktobe region, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan familiarized with the production facilities of a number of industrial enterprises, examining the efficiency of the domestic business support measures and the implementation of the tasks set by the Head of State in his state-of-the-nation address, Primeminister.kz reports.

In particular, special attention was given to manufacturing, transport and logistics and agribusiness.

Prime Minister Bektenov got familiarized with the production facilities of the Aktobe Rail and Beam Plant, manufacturing up to 430,000 tons of products a year, including railroad trucks, a wide range of structural steel, special profiles and others. The plant’s products are used when constructing railway tracks within the country as well as exported to Türkiye, CIS counties, Estonia and Latvia.

In eight months of this year, the region saw the industrial output rise 6.9% to 1.7 trillion tenge, including manufacturing by 15% to 699.2 billion tenge. The region’s pool includes 65 investment projects worth 3.9 trillion tenge in sectors such as mining, construction, energy, oil and gas chemistry, and so on. One launched, up to 15,000 people are expected to be provided with jobs.

Bektenov noted that the support for domestic enterprises is a priority task facing the government, highlighting that the support measures are to be provided and that results are achieved in the form of quality and affordable goods, contributing to import substitution.

During his visit to the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant, the Prime Minister inspected the production process. With a design capacity of over 740,000 tons of products per year, the plant has a slag processing facility, mining and processing and other additional facilities. Ferrochrome, ferrosilicon and other alloys produced at the plant are used to produce reinforced steel, alloy cast iron and other areas of metallurgy. In order to further increase the production volume, the capacities of melting furnace have been increased from 300,000 to 700,000 tons.

Bektenov stressed the importance of introducing innovative technologies, allowing for improved quality of high value-added products as well as addressing industrial safety ad environmental issues.

While visiting the production sites of Akvatoriya-Aktobe LLP, attention was paid to the measures to qualitatively modernize the housing and utilities sector. The enterprise manufactures sewage pumping stations, automated heating units, modular boiler stations, energy resource and water supply accounting systems.

It was noted that the Head of State instructed to address the primary infrastructure issues, with the enterprises such as Akvatoriya-Aktobe are the key to the realization of the Utilities Infrastructyre Modernization Program for 2025/30.

Premier Bektenov also paid a visit to the trade and logistics center Dina Market LLP, which is the first-ever class A sales warehouse facility, fully-equipped with infrastructure. The facility boasts its own railway line for loading and unloading of goods and the capacity of 70,000 tons of goods.

The government head drew attention to further development of the region’s logistics potential taking into account the growing demand. It was noted that road transportation to China demonstrate a yearly growth of more than 2fold, while container transportation grew from one thousand TEU in 2011 to one million TEU in 2023.

In his address, the Head of State outlined the strategic priority for the development of the transport and logistics sector. Our country has established itself as a transport hub in the center of Eurasia, ensuring flows en route East – West and North – South. Joining international cargo flows, our country needs to ensure handling of cargo in our territory, which requires appropriate terminal facilities. It’s necessary to step up the expansion of the existing and the launch of new trade logistics complexes, said Bektenov.

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bektenov also familiarized with the development of Aktobe region’s agro-industrial complex, visiting Ais-plus LPP, which boasts production of over 40,000 tons of dairy products a year, which are in demand within the region and beyond.
