Kazakh PM: Kashagan oil production expected to reach at least 3 mln tons this year
ASTANA. KAZINFORM Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov hopes that Kashagan oil production will resume until July this year.
"I hope the project will be put on stream and we will get this year at least 3 mln tons of crude oil," the PM said addressing today the enlarged board meeting of the Economy and Budget Planning Ministry. He stressed that sooner resumption of oil production at the Kashagan oilfield will allow the Government hit the crude oil extraction target for 2014 up to 83 mln tons. Initially, it was assumed that production at Kashagan will be 8 million tons of oil in 2014 and will reach 12 mln. tons in 2015, which will allow Kazakhstan to enter ten largest oil producing countries.
