Kazakh PM threatens to sack underperforming district akims

Minister of Agriculture Mr. Assylzhan Mamytbekov introduced a new rating of the best and worst regions of Kazakhstan in terms of improving the breeding stock.
Premier Akhmetov reprimanded the minister for not giving an ultimatum to those underperforming district akims. "In two years they failed to deliver any results in the agricultural sector," he said.
S. Akhmetov stressed those district akims per se did not implement the instructions given by the Kazakh President. "Kazakhstan's meat exports to Russia, for example, chiefly depends on the improvement of breeding cattle in the regions," he added.
The Prime Minister once again rebuked the district akims of the regions with the lowest ratings who failed to do their job properly and said they should resign.
