Kazakh President and EC President discuss prospects of Kazakh-EU relations

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and President of European Commission J.M. Barroso have discussed by telephone the state and prospects of Kazakh-EU relations, the press service of Akorda informs.

Special attention was paid to the development of the situation in Ukraine. European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso supported the offer of Kazakhstan to hold on August 26 in Minsk a meeting of the Customs Union, Ukraine and the European Union. It was also agreed to hold, if necessary, a similar meeting in Astana. Nazarbayev and Barroso also discussed the prospects of Kazakhstan's participation in the "Asia-Europe" (ASEM), the next forum of which will be held in October of the current year in Milan. The conversation took place at the initiative of the European side.
